AndroidHow much city fits onto a Mobile Device?

Under this headline we offer an international CampusWeek project where we want to figure out the 3D-programming possibilities of actual Android mobile phones/tablets. We expect up to three Finnish students from our partner university in Ylivieska and are looking for another four or five students who are interested to join this international group and who have no problem to communicate in English.

The "3D-Objects" will be city models from Germany and/or Finland. The German models come from our actual research project on large city models (http://citygml.de ). Finnish models are provided by our cooperation partner. A mobile viewer for digital 3D-models of real existing cities are a good starting point for future mobile applications based on such models.

The used technology will be OpenGL 2.0 ES. Currently it is still open if we develop the "Mobile CityViewer" prototypes in C++ with the Android NDK or in Java with the Android SDK. It might turn out that we have to try both options with two groups.

The participants of this project should have knowledge in Java and C++ programming. It would also be nice to have some experience with OpenGL or Direct-X or with game programming in general.

The number of participants is limited: (0 von 10 Plätzen verfügbar).
